Undertaking this in-depth training will offer you a precious capacity for the rest of your life. By participating in this 8-week course you will develop an observing, accepting and compassionate stance towards your own internal experiences and how to apply this in a practical way to immediate life challenges.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an evidence-based, user-friendly program that brings the principles of mindfulness meditation into everyday life by teaching specific skills and practices to help break cycles of anxiety, stress, unhappiness and exhaustion. As seen on ABC Catalyst TV.

One full ‘Day of Mindfulness’ on Saturday 22nd March 2025, 10:00am-4:00pm
A total of 26 hours attendance of in-person classes

The Curriculum:
Week 1: Stepping out of Automatic Pilot & Waking up
Week 2: Perception: how perception relates to our experience of stress & suffering
Week 3: The power and pleasure of being present & embodied
Week 4: Approaching emotional stress and difficulty more skilfully
Week 5: Stress physiology: working with rumination & other unhelpful thinking patterns
Day of Mindfulness: This day provides guidance, time and space for deep practice
Week 6: Interpersonal mindfulness and compassion
Week 7: Living on purpose and according to our values
Week 8: Mindfulness as a way of living and being
About your teacher:
Kate has been a student and practitioner of meditative practices for 38 years. She has completed a rigorous pathway of training through the Mindfulness Training Institute of Australia and New Zealand and is an internationally accredited and certified Mindfulness Teacher. She is affiliated with Openground, which is a leading mindfulness training institute in Australia and is globally respected. It is proud to be endorsed by Emeritus Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, who developed MBSR at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979. Kate is committed to applying evidence and mindfulness-based interventions in her work with individuals and groups. She finds great joy in working together with people to promote health and happiness.
Fee:
- Standard Rate – $595
- Concession- $495 (must hold a current Health Care Card)
Please note: to be eligible for the concession fee, you must first text a photo of your current HCC to 0408540895. Once approved, you can make the payment.
- If you are repeating the MBSR with Kate Skilbeck, you’ll receive a 20% discount, for a cost of $475.
- Please email Kate at kateskilbeck@gmail.com if you wish to pay in 2 instalments (standard rate: $300 + $295, or concession rate: $250 + $245). Please provide the dates in which you intend to pay.
The fee includes 26 hours of session time which works out to be around $19 per hour for concession price or $22 per hour if you are paying the standard rate. Included in the cost is also a comprehensive MBSR Coursebook sent to you by mail and Downloadable links for a full set of MBSR guided mindfulness meditation practices.

The MSBR program has been reviewed and approved by the APS as an educational activity in accordance with the APS CPD Activity standards. Psychologists can now receive PD points for attendance in the MSBR program, for professional self-care.
